‘Tickle My Keys’ Artist Myra Bryan On Her Art Piece

The talented Myra Bryan and her beautiful art piece!

The Day of Music is fortunate to have not only musicians contributing but visual artists as well. We sat down with Myra Bryan to interview her about her participation in this event. She is one of the five talented artists decorating pianos for the “Tickle My Keys” mass appeal.

Several pianos will be spread throughout Fullerton so keep an eye out for them!

Bryan had originally planned to illustrate pictures of women of rock. However, she decided to conceptually go with all artists that have influenced social consciousness and made a difference through music. This includes the likes of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kim Gordon, Esperanza Spalding, the Beatles, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan. Complementing the social conscious theme, the piano will feature lyrical quotes from the song “Masters of War” by Bob Dylan.

As you can see, everything is coming together beautifully. We certainly cannot wait to see the results!

While art is Bryan’s passion, music is also extremely important to her as she stated that “it has always been a companion” in her life. It is no wonder she continues to support the Day of Music with her talent. In fact, this will be her second time contributing to this event. Last year, she created a beautiful poster for the Day of Music. So naturally, when the director asked her if she would like to participate again this year, Bryan exclaimed, “Of course!” Her involvement in the Day of Music is very much appreciated by the Board of Directors.

Bryan’s artwork can be viewed at the Magoski Arts Colony located at 223 W. Santa Fe Ave. in Fullerton, which houses about 30 members. In recognition of the “Love Locks” tradition in Paris, she will also be painting about 30 locks on the piano to represent each member. She hopes to turn her vision into a reality as she finishes painting the piano. Details on the location of Bryan’s piano and the other four pianos are soon to follow.

Don’t forget to download the Make Music Day app that will allow both iOS and Android users to keep up with all the venues and performances on June 21st! Email [email protected] for more information.
